Mission Statement:

To provide unconditional education and support to women in unplanned pregnancy.

The purpose of The Birth Connection is to offer women, who are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, a safe place to explore their life choices and to be supported in both parenting and adoption plans.

As a Christian organization, we believe that life is sacred and that life begins at conception. While we do not use or present any graphic or manipulative materials to support our belief, we do present only life choices.   Each child is a perfect creation in the image of God.

Who We Are:

The Birth Connection was founded in 1988, by Lois Baxter, now Executive Director, and a friend.

Lois was, at the time working for a local attorney, who did adoptions, and saw the lack of preparation and support given to the women who were answering his ad, placing their babies, and expected to “go on with their lives”.
After noticing the high rate of failed adoptions, and the number of women who changed their minds and reclaiming their babies, Lois began to talk with them and discovered the lack of services provided for these women.

She believes that the Lord used this experience to show her the need and open the door for this ministry to women.

The Birth Connection began to simply provide the services of:
Decision Making – Exploring all a woman’s options
Childbirth Preparation – Giving women alone a support and birth plan
Parenting Resources – Peer & Community support to young mothers
Adoption Planning – Choosing the family, preparing for the hospital,
making a going home plan, and an open adoption agreement.

Each of these services is given with the individual needs and desires included, and are given at no charge to the woman or her family, regardless of her decision.

Who We Serve:

The women who are served by The Birth Connection range in age from 14 – 42, we accept any woman who is experiencing an unplanned pregnancy regardless of her situation.  It is important that each woman who comes to us has a safe place to explore the decisions that impact her life and the life and future of her unborn child.

We present each woman with the opportunity to plan her baby’s future by exploring her options and making a decision based on her own set of circumstances and the realities of her life.

Often, women are referred to us because they are late in their pregnancy, or have delivered, without making plans for their baby’s future.  Whether it is in the hospital after delivery or at any stage of her pregnancy, we have developed a process to assist women in looking at the options available and making a decision.

In parenting, we offer community referrals to give her support and preparation for becoming a mom and being successful.

In adoption, we offer Christian families prepared for and desiring to adopt, preparation for the hospital, going home without her baby, and understanding the grieving process of adoption. We also assist the woman and/or couple and the adoptive family with the plans for whatever type of ongoing contact they are mutually agreeable to.
